Peace Poster Contest
The Wilsonville Lion's Club is sponsoring a student
submission to the international contest.
Each year, Lions clubs around the world proudly sponsor
the Lions International Peace Poster Contest in local
schools and youth groups. This Contest encourages young
people worldwide to artistically express their visions
of peace.
The theme of the 2010-11 Peace Poster Contest is
"Vision of Peace." Students, ages 11, 12 or 13 on
November 15, are eligible to participate.
Each poster is judged on originality, artistic merit and
expression of the theme.
Posters advance through several judging levels: local,
district, multiple district and international. At the
international level, judges from the art, peace, youth,
education and media communities select one grand prize
winner and 23 merit award winners.
Students interested in submitting a poster to the
contest should contact Rosiland Hursh at 503-685-9015.

Wilsonville Festival of Arts
takes on many forms

The 2010 Wilsonville Festival of Arts produced a
variety of forms this year. Along with the excellent
mix of artists who displayed and sold their art and the
Student Art Pavilion with samples of from the West
Linn/Wilsonville School District, there was a very
popular children's craft area with artists
Janet Julian and Heather Maharry of
Portland.
The Festival also had Christopher Reitmeier of Portland
who installed a unique ground mandella made from
discarded florist materials and there was High Riggers
providing photo opportunities for children with
miniature horses. The Wilsonville Theater Company had
an acting competition with short lines from Hamlet.
The spring weather was very fickle, Saturday being very
hot then Sunday saw near torrential downpours. At least
the Silent Auction was nice and dry inside the Visitor's
Center.
The public was invited once again to work on the
community mural project with Muralist Hector Hernandez.
This was the final of four murals for installation
inside the Visitor's Center.
SMART provided old fashion trolley rides on Saturday to
the various historic and art features in Wilsonville.
These were narrated by Kit Whittaker.
There was a great stage performance lineup that included
Story Telling, Marimbas, Jazz, and much more along with
the ever popular 'Trashion Show' put on by the West
Linn/Wilsonville School District Students.
The Chamber of Commerce once again started out the
Festival with their 2nd annual parade running from
Parker Johnstone's Honda to the Festival site at
Town
Center Park.
The 2010 Festival theme was 'Recycled & Upcycled'. The
Festival team is already working on next years
festival. If you would like to be on the Festival
committee, contact Theonie Gilmore at

Artist Opening - Aaron Molinsky,
at Harley's Emporium
Date: September
24, 2010
Time: 6:00
PM - 10:00 PM
Aaron Molinsky sees much of the darker side of life in
his career as an EMT. As do many artists, he has
embraced that part of his life truthfully, incorporating
that darkness into the beauty of his art. You must see
his talented renderings. Seeing both his lighter and
more whimsical pieces as well as his darker, stark
renditions will give you an insight into the art and
mind of this very talented young man.
Important
Note: Some of the visuals contain very
strong images which may be offensive to some. Please be
aware of this when you come. That being said, we
strongly believe you should not miss this show.

Joke Du Jour
Back to School?
A little girl came home from school and said to her mother,
"Mommy, today in school I was punished for something
that I didn't do."
The mother exclaimed, "But that's terrible! I'm going to have
a talk with your teacher about this ... by the way, what
was it that you didn't do?"
The little girl replied, "My homework."
